While at the home of a long time friend, I was introduced to a collection of Nike Dunks that he has worn while skating over the years. I looked in a amazement at about 19 pairs of Nike Dunks and Dunk SB's that were just about all torn to hell. Just about all of them had been pushed to their absolute limit. Giant holes occupied the space where his toes would have been. And as absolutely f***ed up as they were, I thought there was something beautiful about them. He must have too otherwise he would have simply threw them away after they had run their course. I wanted to document them in some way to preserve that beauty. I decided to shoot them as if they were a brand new product from Nike. Just the sneaker, exhausted yet still standing, against a white backdrop, evenly lit to show all the detail. You can see the passion and the dedication to the sport through the sneaker.
